PREVIEWKaren Swanson began her work as a Middle School Counselor and Teacher after graduating from ASU in 1991. She spent over eight years in the Scottsdale Unified School District, assisting children in their preparation for high school and beyond. Swanson began working as a High School Counselor in the Fairfield Community School District in August 2003. The Fairfield Community School District educates students from Jefferson, Henry, Van Buren, Wapello, and Washington counties. She was a Fairfield Community School District student until July 2007.
Swanson accepted a position as the Director of High School Programs at Indian Hills Community College after leaving Fairfield Community School. Over a decade, she handled programs, courses, contracts, and partnerships between the institution and school districts. She also served as a connector between colleges, K-12 schools, corporations, and industry. Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) is a public community college in Ottumwa, Iowa, having campuses in Centerville and Ottumwa. IHCC educates traditional residential and commuter students in a ten-county area of southeast Iowa and northern Missouri. |
